Narrabeen Sharks Junior Rugby League Football Club

Narrabeen Junior Rugby League Football Club had its beginning on March 7, 1932 in Jack McLean’s barber shop at the Narrabeen tram terminus. Among the decisions made at the inaugural meeting was that the club enter “A” and “B” grade teams in the Manly Warringah Rugby League competition becoming the first registered rugby league club in the district. Those first two sides took the field in the same colours we play in today, black and white.

Welcome players, families, sponsors and supporters to 2023. It’s shaping up to be a promising year of football. The Club’s aim is, and has always been, to promote the game of rugby league in a fun and fair environment, and in 2023 it is more important than ever to encourage our children to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.

Women's Resilience Centre

The Women’s Resilience Centre founded in 2020 is a place of hope, healing and recovery for women who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse and trauma. Whilst many government and voluntary services provide housing and support for victims, most are short-term and through desperation, many women return to unsafe environments thereby perpetuating the tragic cycle of abuse and trauma.

The WRC is positioned to fill the gap between short-term crisis care and longer-term recovery. We provide a Resilience Program supported by a lived-experience peer-to-peer Mentoring Program, delivered nationally online and face-to-face. Through partnerships with housing providers, we are planning a national network of residential accommodation for up to 12 months, providing a safe space for women to reset their lives.

Northern Beaches Outrigger Canoe Club

In 1999 a club originated on Narrabeen Lake with 5 members and a borrowed outrigger canoe. It was founded on the enthusiasm, passion and love of the the sport.

As one of the original 3 clubs in New South Wales for outrigging, our knowledge has been gained over the past 14 years. One of the highlights in the beginning was gaining access to the ocean which required navigating through the nortorious North Narrabeen surf break which provided the weekly excitement.

Current training locations are now throughout the Northern Beaches, Manly, Middle Harbour, Narrabeen, Pittwater the club has built itself to be a force to be reckoned with in New South Wales, breaking through the Queensland domination of the sport.

The club now has members travelling from far and wide in metroplitan Sydney to train, benefit from the variety of conditions and to be a part of the strongest competitive club in Australia.

Northern Beaches Hot Rods

In 1964, the Northern Beaches Hot Rod Club was founded by passionate rodders who recognised the need for a hot rod club on the northern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, also known as 'The Coat Hanger'. They organised and ran the first drag meets in NSW, a significant achievement.

Fast forward to the 1980s, and a group of Northern Beaches rodders wanted to establish a new club focusing on street rodding. This led to the creation of Northern Beaches Hot Rods. However, despite being active for several years, the club's ageing demographic and a need for second and third-generation hot rodders posed a challenge.

To address this issue, the club organised a membership drive, which resulted in the addition of ten to twelve new members. These new members are committed hot rodders who have been around the area but were unaware of the club's existence. With renewed enthusiasm and new blood, the club inspired its members to complete long-running projects and take on new ones. Additionally, the club redesigned its colours, and the future of Northern Beaches Hot Rods looks brighter than ever before.

Graem, the club's President, says they welcome new members who share their passion for hot rodding. To learn more about the Northern Beaches Hot Rod Club, visit their Facebook page: facebook.com/northernbeacheshotrods.
